Your ceremony is about you — your people, your story and all the wonderfully imperfect moments that make the day yours.

Sometimes those moments are too lovely not to share. A photograph, a little story from the day or a behind-the-scenes glimpse can help other couples see what a celebrant-led ceremony can look and feel like.

But I will never assume that you want your wedding, your family or your photographs shared publicly.

Your privacy and your choices come first.

Photographs and video

I may take photographs or short video clips during your ceremony, or ask your photographer or other suppliers whether they are happy to share suitable images with me.

I will only use photographs or video featuring you, your family, guests or children for my website, social media, marketing or other promotional purposes where you have given me permission to do so.

You can choose what you are comfortable with.

For example, you might be happy for:

  • photographs of you to appear on my website;
  • photographs to be shared on social media;
  • photographs to be used in promotional material;
  • your ceremony to be mentioned by name;
  • photographs to be shared without names or identifying details.

Or you may prefer not to have anything shared at all.

That's completely fine.

Children and guests

I will take particular care with photographs or stories involving children.

Permission to use a photograph or story is not something I will assume simply because someone attended your ceremony.

Where appropriate, I will seek the relevant permission before using identifiable photographs or information about children or other guests.

Your story

I love hearing the stories behind people's ceremonies — the ridiculous first dates, the family traditions, the unexpected disasters, the tiny details that nobody else knows and the moments that made everyone laugh or cry.

With your permission, I may occasionally want to share part of your story as inspiration for other couples.

This could be something as simple as:

“They met at a bus stop, spent their first date arguing about whether pineapple belongs on pizza, and decided seventeen years later that they were probably stuck with each other.”

I will always ask before sharing something that identifies you or your ceremony.

You are also welcome to tell me no — or to tell me which parts of your story are yours to keep.

Changing your mind

Consent isn't a one-time forever decision.

If you previously agreed to photographs or stories being shared but later change your mind, please tell me.

I will respect your request and, where reasonably possible, remove the relevant content from places I control.

Please remember that I cannot control photographs or posts shared independently by guests, photographers, venues or other third parties.

Your choice

There is no right answer here.

Some couples love seeing their photographs celebrated and enjoy knowing that their story might inspire someone else.

Other couples want their ceremony to remain entirely private.

Both are absolutely okay.

Your ceremony isn't content.

It's your life.

And that's more important.

A final Beautiful Chaos promise

I won't share your embarrassing dance moves without permission.

I make no promises about your friends doing it.

Your story belongs to you
